It all happened after our first family bike ride on the bike trail. I lost my favorite brown fingerless mittens. I surfed the net trying, unsuccessfully, to find a pair just like them. I did find a great web site- Etsy.com- which has some wonderful hand made knitted fingerless mittens etc. But, after accessing a few knitter's blogs, I announced to Jeff I was going to learn to knit. To my suprise, he wanted to learn too. So, we found some great "learn to knit" sites on Youtube and taught ourselves to knit!
Some of our first attempts, like the brown square below, were not so pretty. We found ourselves either adding or dropping stitches.
But, within a week or two, we were making scarves for Christmas gifts!
Gift Aud made for Cath Gift Jeff made for Josie
Not only did the two of us learn to knit, so did the boys-- they wouldn't be left out!
They began by hand crocheting friendship bracelets as gifts for all the kids in their class and their Sunday school teachers. Then, Taylor made the scarf below as a Christmas gift for Morgan.
